    Most travelers don't realize that they can rent a room at a college near where they are 
going for a price much lower then the average hotel/motel in the same area.
    Almost all colleges & universities have dorm room that are unoccupied especially in
the summer months (In the Northern Hemisphere) winter months (In the Winter)  and rent 
these out to raise extra income. You can (If you do your homework.) rent these rooms at
a very reasonable price, & can even get such amenities as: the use of sports facilities.
(Tennis Courts, pools, etc.) you may be able to eat in the school's cafeteria, etc., some.
colleges even through in free breakfast.
   To do a search type in {colleges in (The area you'll be traveling to)} then E-mail the 
school of your choice. Requesting they're policy on accepting guests & a price list of 
they're rooms. (Most colleges don't have that information on there web sites.)
