Connecting  flights:                                      Back
If you are not pressed for time, consider making reservations for your connecting flights at a hub city.
On my first trip to Southeast Asia I wanted to spend some time exploring Bangkok & since I had a month to kill before I had to return to the States, I decided to make my airline reservations to Bali in Bangkok. I was glad I did.
As I said earlier, when flying as a courier you have to fly to one of the airlines hub cities. In this case I chose Bangkok. After spending three enjoyable days exploring Bangkok I decided that I was almost ready for Bali. So off to a travel agency.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that not only could I fly out in two days but that I had saved over a hundred & fifty dollars U. S. by not getting the same ticket from a travel agency I had checked with back home.
I have since learned that this is almost always the case. 1. The U. S. $ is usually very strong in Asia.  2. The airlines (as almost all international companies) sell what they can at a price that people can afford & since the average person in Thailand makes quite a bit less then his/her counterpart in the States, has less to spent. In order to fill the planes the airline has to sell tickets for less.
This doesn't apply to people buying tickets in the States. So enjoy Bangkok or Singapore or Hong Kong or Tokyo & save money.     Al
